Description
Cockade House was originally built in the eighteenth century as a sugar plantation home set on 5.5 acres and was part of Bennetts Plantation. In 1971, it was later redesigned and transformed by the renowned English theatre designer, Oliver Messel.
With Oliver Messel’s reputation and tasteful decoration, Cockade House is now one of the most exclusive properties on the island. Messel reconfigured the interior of the house, raised the height of the ceilings, added the verandahs, redid the façade and incorporated a lovely swimming pool.
Today, Cockade House can be marveled as a delightful country house hidden behind a driveway of Mahogany trees with stunning views of the Caribbean Sea and Sandy Lane Golf Course. The main house offers 2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, study, living and dining room, a large, well-equipped kitchen with pantry, terraces and an inviting swimming pool, beautifully framed by a delightful arched folly, lily pond, and garden pathway.
Additional bedrooms and bathrooms are available in the separate guest cottage and self-contained pavilion.
Retaining all its characterful charm whilst conveying a timeless idiosyncrasy in design, Cockade is not only an artful masterpiece but a long-standing luxury home, which so clearly tells an expressive story to its visitors without uttering a word.
